    Our Story

The story of Atlas Family Chiropractic is deeply intertwined with the story of our founder, Dr. Katie Dobowey, and her connection to central Minnesota. Growing up in nearby Cold Spring and attending ROCORI High School, Dr. Dobowey developed a profound appreciation for the strong, supportive nature of our local communities. This foundation fueled her academic and professional journey, from earning a Bachelor's degree at the University of Minnesota to achieving her Doctorate of Chiropractic at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic. While at Palmer, her leadership and dedication were recognized with numerous honors, including the esteemed Vogt Leadership Society scholarship, but her heart remained set on returning home. She envisioned a practice that was more than just a clinic; she wanted to build a true health resource for the families of Waite Park, St. Cloud, and the surrounding towns she knew so well. Atlas Family Chiropractic was born from this vision—a place where advanced chiropractic knowledge meets small-town compassion. The practice was founded on a few core principles:

    • Patient-Centered Approach: Every care plan is tailored to the individual's unique needs and health goals.
    • Community Focus: A commitment to being an active, positive force in the well-being of our local area.
    • Continuous Education: Empowering patients with the knowledge to take an active role in their own health journey.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a new patient?

We are honored you are considering us for your care. To begin the process, please click the "Schedule an Appointment" button on our website's Home Page and submit the required information. Our team will then contact you to confirm the details. We strive to see new patients as soon as possible, but due to our thorough approach, there is typically a one to two-week waitlist. We will call you as soon as an opening becomes available.

What happens during the first two visits?

Your initial visit is entirely diagnostic in nature, as we do not adjust on the first day. This allows us to perform a comprehensive consultation and all necessary exams and specialized X-rays to accurately diagnose your condition. On your second visit, called the Report of Findings, we will review our findings with you in detail and present our recommendations for care.

How long are the first two visits?

Please set aside ample time for these crucial appointments. Your first diagnostic visit will take approximately 75 to 90 minutes. Your second visit, the Report of Findings, will last between 60 and 75 minutes.

How much are the first two visits?

Because your care is tailored to your specific needs, the cost can vary. The investment for your first visit will typically range from $350 to $419. Your second visit, the Report of Findings, will range from $200 to $288.

    Do you accept insurance?

Yes, payment is due in full at the time of service. For your convenience, we accept cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. In unique circumstances, we can establish specific payment plans; we encourage you to speak with our finance director to discuss this possibility.

When should my child get checked for an atlas misalignment?

Many experts believe it is beneficial for a child's spine and nervous system to be checked by a chiropractor periodically throughout development. Proponents of pediatric chiropractic care often recommend an initial check-up shortly after birth and then at major milestones. We believe all children can benefit from a basic evaluation, and if you ever suspect your child has an issue, a visit is important regardless of age.
